0007_Wark_YCM January 2014_TechJiffy Food and Video has been growing a strong and loyal customer base in Brandon, MB for more than two decades. Dane Lindenberg, whose parents own the store, is a firm believer in paying it forward to the community that has supported them along the way.

Here are 4 ways Jiffy Food and Video gives back:

1. LA Squishy Day and donations

“Every summer, since 2011, we’ve held an annual event called LA Squishy Day, where we give out our signature ice cream treat, the LA Squishy, for free,” says Lindenberg. During the event, the store accepts donations on behalf of the local Big Brothers and Sisters organization.

2. Team and club sponsorships

“We currently sponsor a number of local theatre productions put on by both drama and theatre clubs, as well as all three of the local high schools,” says Lindenberg. “In addition to this, we have sponsored the Brandon University Bobcats in past years (although we’re not a current sponsor), as well as Brandon Youth Soccer teams.”

3. Facebook giveaways

The store’s Facebook page is very active, and recently reached a fan base of more than 2,000 people. As a thank-you, Jiffy Food and Video gave away a number of prizes to their Facebook friends. These posts received hundreds of ‘likes’ and shares, which is an added bonus!

4. Movember fundraising

“We’re also working with a local group that puts a lot of time into Movember fundraising, and so we got involved in this on an annual basis in 2014,” says Lindenberg.
