Held once every three years, the event attracts industry and government leaders from around the world including government heads of state and ministers of energy.

The committee says it is "closely monitoring" the COVID-19 situation and reassessing our own health and safety measures to ensure a safe environment for everyone participating."

The event is slated for December 6-10 in Houston.

"As the Congress draws nearer, we will heed official advice from U.S. authorities," the committee said in a statement.
