As of August 30, 2016 Valet Car Wash in Cambridge, Ontario will be the first self-serve car wash in North America to use Mobile Cell Phones as a method of payment and completely stop accepting coins in their bays.

Customers simply scan a QR code in each bay with their phone, follow a couple prompts and the bay will activate for the time purchased and a receipt can be sent right to your phone. Valet hopes to attract a whole new demographic of customers to the self-serve wash, Millennials who typically don’t carry cash or credit cards but always have a cell phone with them. For customers who rather not use their phone they will be able to purchase tokens with bills or credit cards at a central token machine on site. Valet feels this will also greatly reduce theft and vandalism as money will no longer be in the meter boxes or change machines.

Valet Car Washes are the largest branded independent operator of car washes in Ontario and is currently expanding through company owned locations as well as through licensing agreements with existing operators.
