The Quebec government has until Friday to pass a slew of bills, including the energy drink ban, before the parliamentary session ends. It will be the last session before the general election scheduled for October.
The consultation will explore expanding "place of origin" trademark protections on alcohol products, industrial products and some crafts with a special focus on Indigenous knowledge.
The central bank held its policy rate at 2.25% when it last met in April. Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem at the time did not rule out future adjustments depending on how risks play out.
