Arrests made at All in One Convenience
Three people are facing several charges after Oshawa’s the East Crime Team began investigating rumours the convenience store’s employees were dealing contraband.
Following a tip that employees at the store were trafficking drugs and providing drugs in exchange for alcohol, two men and a woman were arrested.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued an order on March 24 to immediately suspend the licence to sell alcohol and retail lottery registration held by All in One Convenience Oshawa. The commission concluded that immediate regulatory action was necessary to protect the public and the integrity of Ontario’s regulated alcohol and gaming markets.
Mayuresh Mahendran, Fredy Biju and Emilie Ann Crissinger all aged 22, were held for a bail hearing.
The three were charged with possessing fentanyl, crack cocaine, cannabis, hydromorphone, and crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of unmarked cigarettes for the purpose of sale.
The search warrants located a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia, over 250 bottles of stolen alcohol valued at over $20,000, illegal cigarettes, stolen clothing, and large amounts of cash.
“Operating a business with a liquor licence in Ontario is a privilege that comes with clear legal obligations. The AGCO works closely with law enforcement to ensure businesses are operating responsibly. When licensed premises are linked to unlawful activity, the AGCO will take all appropriate actions to protect the public,” said Dr. Karin Schnarr, the chief executive officer and registrar for the AGCO.
