Do you have an COVID safety plan?

4/13/2021

Retailers are expected to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place to protect both workers and employees.

As c-store operators of all size navigate the most recent lockdowns and stay-at-home orders across the country, it's essential to ensure the plan is up-to-date and easily accessible. Inspections by local Public Health units (PHU) and Ministries of Labour require stores to show their plan.

There are several online resources in various regions to help devise and define plans, however the Ontario Convenience Stores Association has provided a simple COVID-19 Safety Plan that c-stores can use as a foundation.

What should you do with your Safety Plan?

1. Discuss and share with everyone on your team to ensure they understand how you plan to manage the risks of contracting COVID-19 in your workplace.

2. Make your plan available. You are not required to send your plan to government for review, however, you must provide the plan upon request during an investigation or inspection.

3. Post your safety plan in a visible place for staff and customers to see.

4. Review and update your plan regularly to reflect changing regulations.
