Planning continues for 23rd World Petroleum Congress
The 23rd World Petroleum Organizing Committee is moving ahead with plans to host the event in Texas at the end of the year.
Held once every three years, the event attracts industry and government leaders from around the world including government heads of state and ministers of energy.
The committee says it is "closely monitoring" the COVID-19 situation and reassessing our own health and safety measures to ensure a safe environment for everyone participating."
The event is slated for December 6-10 in Houston.
"As the Congress draws nearer, we will heed official advice from U.S. authorities," the committee said in a statement.
Calgary is to host the World Petroleum Congress in 2023
The World Petroleum Congress Canada calls the event the "Olympics of oil and gas,'' noting it is expected to bring in an estimated 5,000 delegates to the city.
WPC Canada said the congress is expected to include over 80 national delegations, 700 expert speakers, 500 CEOs, 800 media, and 400 exhibiting companies.
