At Conagra Brands Canada, the corporate culture is increasingly driven by those who know it best: the employees. Through a network of active Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), the organization is fostering a workspace where staff can shape their professional experience while supporting the causes and community initiatives that matter to them.

These ERGs—which range from focus areas for young professionals to parents—have become the engine room for the company’s engagement strategy. By organizing everything from mentorship programs to community outreach, these groups ensure that Conagra’s workplace culture remains dynamic and inclusive.

The Parents in Business ERG has been particularly active in bridging the gap between home and office life. Recent initiatives have included hosting “Take Your Kids to Work Day” for ninth graders, providing a firsthand look at the company’s operations, alongside holiday parties and special recognitions for Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.

For those earlier in their careers, the “Young Professionals” ERG has launched a mentorship program for the second consecutive year. This initiative, open to all staff in Canada, is designed to build lasting professional relationships and create clear development pathways within the company.

Conagra’s commitment to community also shines through its ERG-led partnerships. The company’s focus on the Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke has been a standout success, earning Conagra the “2025 Boundless Generosity Award.” Staff efforts at the shelter have included organizing holiday hampers and preparing Mother’s Day meals.

Furthermore, the women’s ERG recently partnered with NextUp Toronto to mark International Women’s Day, hosting a keynote address by entrepreneur and investor Manjit Minhas, who spoke about her journey as founder of Minhas Breweries & Distillery and as a dealmaker on Shark Tank.

As Conagra looks ahead, the company plans to double down on these grassroots efforts. By prioritizing cultural celebrations and enhanced internal communication, the organization aims to ensure that its work environment continues to reflect the values and diverse interests of its workforce.

New in 2026, CSNC asked leaders of winning organizations: How does this initiative align with your broader business goals?

"Our people are the driving force behind our success. By investing in employee connection, mentorship, leadership development and inclusive experiences though our Employee Resource Groups, we strengthen engagement, collaboration and organizational effectiveness. Programs led through our ERGs help employees develop new skills, expand their networks and build stronger relationships, all while contributing to a culture where they feel a strong sense of belonging."
- Caroline Nadeau, general manager, Canada at Conagra Brands
