Convenience Store News Canada is thrilled to announce that Kathy Perrotta, VP, Ipsos Canada, will deliver the keynote address at the 2021 Star Women in Convenience Awards Event on September 29th.

As the world begins its slow pivot through the COVID-19 transition, it’s clear that the period of lockdown will have a profound impact on how people eat, drink and shop for years to come. Behaviours that were once mandated are now routine. Values have shifted. The very idea of convenience continues to evolve.

It is essential for C&G leaders to identify and understand what has changed to create an action plan for future success. What are the big picture factors impacting your customers’ habits? How are consumers’ personal values around sustainability, community, health and quality influencing purchasing and consumption? How can the convenience channel activate against these trends? And, more importantly, what do you need to know to enhance your role as a leader and drive business in the age of conscious consumption?

In her keynote - "Conscious consumption: Offering Canadians convenience without compromise" - Perrotta will delve into key macro trends shaping consumers’ consumption choices and examine how retailers and their partners can be inspired and empowered to better meet the needs, wants and values of their customers as a framework for growth.

Perrotta started her research career more than 40 years ago in the law libraries of Davies Ward & Beck as a Law Clerk compelled by a curious need to know why.  Over time, it became clear to Perrotta that the people in the case law were decidedly more interesting than the law itself.  In 2001, curiosity finally spawned a paradigm shift into a new career focused on consumer research.

Since then, she has worked in a variety of roles focused on bringing the voice, habits and beliefs of diverse Canadian consumers to her clients. Perrotta is currently a VP at Ipsos and leads the FIVE Food and Beverage tracking service. A highly sought after, insightful and engaging speaker, she is a special contributor to The Globe and Mail, as well as a regular contributor to Convenience Stores New Canada, Canadian Grocer and Food in Canada.

In addition, to Perrotta's keynote, the event will include the Leadership Panel, networking opportunities and, of course, the awards presentation.
