Conagra Brands Canada is deepening its commitment to an inclusive workforce, leveraging a strategic framework designed to ensure employees feel empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.

Launched in June 2024, the Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging (ID&B) Council has become the foundation of this cultural transformation. The initiative is positioned to support both the company’s business priorities and the personal growth of its employees, creating spaces where staff can build leadership skills and support one another across all functions.

The strategy goes beyond policy, relying on active participation from Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These groups play a pivotal role in fostering connection by organizing events to celebrate diverse cultural backgrounds, including Lunar New Year, Diwali, Eid, Passover, Easter, Cinco de Mayo and Holi. To further promote cultural awareness, the company uses a weekly newsletter as a platform for employees to share their unique holiday traditions.

The goal is to involve more employees in the planning and execution of ID&B initiatives, while emphasizing a larger commitment to continuous learning and collaboration.

To reinforce these values, Conagra has introduced a dedicated ID&B e-learning platform, ensuring inclusion remains a daily focus. Leadership development is also a priority. The “Sounding Board Leadership Labs” offer employees within ERGs specialized training in empathy, influence and effective communication.

By providing meaningful, tangible support—including supplying company products tailored to cultural celebrations—Conagra is successfully bridging the gap between business objectives and deeper connections. As the program evolves, the company continues to place employees at the heart of ID&B initiatives, ensuring workplace culture reflects the diversity of its workforce.

New in 2026, CSNC asked leaders of winning organizations: What is the core “why” behind your initiative?

"The creation of the Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Council was inspired by our commitment to create a workplace where every person feels valued, respected, supported and empowered to succeed. We recognize the importance of fostering meaningful connections and providing opportunities for employees to grow both personally and professionally. Through the Council, its activities and employee-focused programming, we sought to cultivate a culture of belonging where employees can bring their authentic selves to work and thrive."
- Caroline Nadeau, general manager, Canada, Conagra Brands
