2026 Impact Awards Winner: JTI-Macdonald Corporation
Since 1999, JTI-Macdonald has championed community resilience across Canada, blending social responsibility with active environmental stewardship. The company’s focus on building stronger, healthier communities goes beyond financial contributions, recognizing a duty to uplift the people they serve and protect the earth.
Through national initiatives like “Fill Up For A Cause” (FUFAC), JTI addresses urgent social needs, including food insecurity, shelter support, disaster relief and women’s economic empowerment. In 2025, the FUFAC initiative mobilized teams to provide 1,192,828 meals through collective giving and friendly competition. The company also supports programming that breaks systemic barriers to economic independence for women through mentoring and soft-skills training.
JTI-Macdonald’s impact is amplified by a robust employee-engagement strategy. The company matches charitable donations up to $2,500 annually and provides $100 for every 10 volunteer hours. Through its “Force for Good” program, staff receive a paid volunteer day to support local community outreach, including food sorting and distribution. Simultaneously, the company prioritizes environmental restoration, planting 2,754 trees and organizing waste-removal campaigns over the past three years. By integrating social-impact programming with employee-led initiatives, JTI-Macdonald continues to deliver long-term, sustainable benefits to communities nationwide.
Together, these continued actions extend long-term impact, reinforce commitment to social responsibility and sustainability, and help build stronger, more resilient communities across Canada.
