Allyn Tritter

Senior manager – business development Canada

7-Eleven Canada

How did you get into this business?

I studied engineering and design and one of my courses was project management. I realized it was something I wanted to drive my career towards. I worked in project coordination then project management, managing inventory and complex product shipments then overseeing permits and utility applications at an engineering firm that consulted for multiple convenience and fuel brands. Eventually, I was managing over 75 locations. Since being hired by 7-Eleven Canada in 2015, I’ve moved throughout the development team including construction, real estate and now business development and franchising.

What are you most proud of?

I’m project lead on the development of our Canadian franchise model. It’s an exciting opportunity to help shape the strategy and bring franchising into the market.

What do you like most about your job?

Learning new things. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many great leaders who have coached, pushed and supported me throughout my career.

Biggest career challenge?

Thinking if I didn’t know everything I didn’t deserve to be there. Effective leaders don’t rush to have all the answers; they listen, learn quickly and add value where they can.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

If you don’t prioritize your time and you’re not intentional about what matters at work and at home, you get pulled into other people’s priorities.

What excites you most about the future?

The growth potential and impact we’ll have on the market while also giving me the platform to provide a key role in building something meaningful, with long-term impact for the business.
