Ashley Robinson

District sales manager

JTI-Macdonald

How did you get into this business?

Sales is in my blood. I got my start at 13 working in my parents’ company alongside their sales reps. Years later, in a previous role, I met people at JTI and was struck by how much they genuinely loved what they did; it came through in every conversation. That curiosity pushed me to take a chance, apply and ultimately earn the opportunity to join JTI as a trade marketer.

Biggest career challenge?

Leading a district effectively while balancing the responsibilities of raising two very active daughters in soccer. Managing both has required strong prioritization, adaptability and discipline.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

Own the pause. In sales, we’re often quick to respond, but the best answers come from taking a pause to truly understand what’s being asked. It can feel uncomfortable at first, but once you embrace the pause, you become a better listener—and that’s where the real progress happens.

What excites you most about the future of this channel?

Because this is such a highly regulated space, things can shift quickly, which means you have to stay agile, think strategically and be ready to pivot at any moment. That constant evolution keeps the channel dynamic and challenging in the best way and it creates opportunities to keep learning, adapting and finding new ways to succeed.
