2026 Star Women in Convenience winner: Maria Litvak
Maria Litvak
Real estate manager
Sunoco LP
How did you get into this business?
I grew up in the oil industry’s retail sector, from the teenage years when my parents owned and operated a gas station to my own early 20s. After taking time to grow my family, I realized this is the business I want to continue in. I went back into it as a territory manager with Pioneer Fuels, was then acquired by Parkland Corporation as a real estate manager and now work under Sunoco LP.
What are you most proud of?
Going through two acquisitions over the last 13 years, it’s been an interesting ride learning new processes and assisting in developing, mentoring and leading people.
What do you like most about your job?
No two days are the same. Every day is something different. Every day I’m learning something new whether in my line of work or another department.
Biggest career challenge?
Finding and negotiating deals in real estate is not an overnight job. Sometimes it takes months to years for one project to come to fruition. When you spend six or more months cultivating relationships, working on offers and negotiating terms and the deal falls apart due to logistical, budget or third-party involvement—it can be heartbreaking.
What's the best advice you ever received?
Control the controllables. If it’s out of one’s control—no point in dwelling on it. This way I stay focused on things I can regulate.
What's your career highlight/biggest achievement?
Being the team player that people can rely on. I know my colleagues will reach out when they need my assistance on a project or just to bounce ideas off me. Having that kind of respect and appreciation is a huge achievement.
What excites you most about the future of this channel? Seeing more and more of the younger generations interested in real estate.
