Foodservice & merchandising manager

North Sun Energy

How did you get into this business?

I worked part‑time as a cashier at an Esso station while I was a university student. I quickly fell in love with the business, applied for my own franchise after graduating and became the youngest person in Canada to operate an Esso station. I went on to own and operate two locations for nearly 10 years before moving into leadership roles.

What are you most proud of?

I led a successful limited‑time offer collaboration with PepsiCo to launch Walking Tacos across all our locations. I also oversaw the opening and renovation of eight Orangestore locations, implementing refreshed layouts and planograms that delivered strong sales growth.

What do you like most about your job?

Moving into foodservice and merchandising has been a refreshing change. I’ve enjoyed gaining a new perspective on the business while still being able to apply my operational experience to drive results.

Biggest challenge?

Transitioning from operations into a head office role was outside my comfort zone. It pushed me to grow professionally and showed me that adaptability is one of my greatest strengths.

Best advice you’ve ever received?

“Never be afraid to share your thoughts—you have a lot to give this industry.” This advice encouraged me to speak up, and I’ve seen how sharing ideas and insights can make a meaningful impact.

What excites you most about the future?

The opportunity to bring new and innovative products to market. Seeing how creativity and bold ideas continue to evolve the convenience channel keeps the work inspiring.
