What are you most proud of?
Launching beer and wine in our Ontario Stores—from planning, forecasting, store layouts and order selections, then seeing it all come together. It was a great deal of work and collaboration with team members, but very rewarding.
What do you like most about your job?
I love the people and working with retailers and suppliers. I learn something new every day. Also, each day brings a new challenge. You start with a plan, but you never know what the day is going to bring.
Career highlight?
Being a part of the launch of beer and wine in Ontario. Launching a new category is amazing.
What excites you most about the future of this channel?
Seeing where convenience will go and what the next big thing will be. The only constant in this business is change.
Nomination highlights
Susan Sindan is a Star Women in Convenience because of her leadership, expertise and impact in building and growing Quickie’s beer, wine and RTD category. Since stepping into the role of beer and wine category manager role in July 2024, she successfully accelerated timelines to meet the September 2024 alcohol launch, positioning Quickie for strong continued growth in the evolving convenience alcohol channel. Her industry knowledge, strategic thinking and strong supplier relationships have provided valuable market insight and helped drive sustained success post-launch. With more than 20 years at Quickie, she has become the organization’s trusted subject matter expert on alcohol category management and AGCO compliance. She oversees approved product assortments across more than 120 locations, develops planograms tailored to varying store formats and manages supplier and purchasing relationships to maximize both assortment and operational efficiency. Her close collaboration with operations teams and store locations ensures strong execution and responsible retailing standards across the network. Susan is widely respected for her thoughtful, diplomatic and collaborative leadership style. Suppliers and colleagues regularly seek her insight because of her openness, professionalism and practical approach to problem-solving.
