Nearly two weeks after it reported it was the victim of a cyberattack, Federated Co-operatives Ltd. (FCL) says it’s investigating whether the company's IT data has been compromised.

“We are aware of statements made online that data was allegedly copied from the FCL IT environment and will allegedly be released,” the co-operative shared in a statement posted to social media Tuesday (July 9).

FCL first made the public aware of the cyber attack on June 27. The co-op shared a statement on it's Facebook page:

“As a precaution, we have shut down some of our systems and brought in third party experts. An investigation is underway.... We regret that this outage has occurred and we thank Co-op members and customers for their patience as our teams work to resolve the issue.”

At the time, the Western Canada retail co-operative said there was no evidence that consumer data has been compromised. Now they say it’s possible the alleged leak is related to the cybersecurity incident, but that an investigation is still underway with third-party experts.

Last week, the co-operative reported that all 398 Co-op cardlock locations were back up and running and that fuel supply to its retail gas bars has been “relatively unaffected."

In addition, the company said in a statement: “It’s important to note that while this incident has been contained, upon first discovering that we had experienced a cybersecurity incident, we temporarily took a number of systems offline as a precaution."

FCL said it’s working to bring all systems back online.
