ONroute, Ontario’s network of travel plazas, announced the appointment of Andy Webb as its new chief executive officer, following the departure of Melanie Teed-Murch, who has successfully led the company for the past six years.

Webb joins ONroute from SSP Group, a travel food and hospitality provider, where he spent 13 years in a variety of senior commercial and operational roles. Most recently, he served as chief commercial officer for SSP’s operations in the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands, as well as managing director of the company’s Rail Gourmet division.

With extensive experience in the fast-paced travel and hospitality sector, Andy brings a wealth of commercial expertise and a strong track record of driving growth in collaboration with major international brands and suppliers. He will officially assume his role on December 1, relocating from the UK to Ontario.

ONroute's board of directors expressed its appreciation to Melanie Teed-Murch for her leadership, writing in a release “[of her] dedication over the past six years, particularly for her stewardship during the challenging COVID-19 period. The board looks forward to welcoming Webb to ONroute and to the continued success of the organization under his leadership.”

“I am incredibly privileged to join ONroute at such an exciting time,” says  Webb. “ONroute plays a vital role in connecting people across Ontario, and I’m looking forward to building on the company’s strong foundations — working with the team, our brand partners and the province to be the best part of our customer’s journey.”

On his LinkedIn profile, Webb also thanked the team at SSP Group for the many years or support he received.

“It’s a huge step for me — new city, new company, new responsibility — and I’m genuinely excited to get started with the team and get stuck in,” he wrote. “SSP has been a constant through some extraordinary years, not least COVID. I’ve been fortunate to work across Property, Business Development, Rail Gourmet, Railrest, and Commercial. The lessons were hard-won and shared openly; I’m grateful for that.”
