Though he joined the company only a year ago, Austin Vaz has already proven to be a valuable leader, heading up marketing for 7-Eleven Canada’s proprietary food and beverage programs and managing well-known brands like Slurpee, Big Gulp and Big Bite.

“I'm very proud of building our 2026 Fresh Food and Beverage Marketing strategy. The company prides itself on being customer-obsessed, so having the freedom to research customer needs and pitch bold, disruptive ideas gave me the motivation to produce my best work,” says Vaz.

“I find immense joy in creating products and experiences that bring joy to young people. A Slurpee always brought a smile to my face as a kid, so I'm glad I get to help bring those feelings to today’s youth.”

Vaz says overcoming imposter syndrome early in his career was his biggest challenge, and he values companies that promote diversity. 

“I made a fundamental shift to believe in my ability to do the job and make real, impactful change. This belief has allowed me to excel in my career and exist in spaces with the most seasoned marketers as equals,” he explains. “It shows the younger version of myself that someone who looks like me can thrive in important roles. I don’t think about what DE&I can do for my career, but rather how it can inspire young people to chase after their aspirations.”
