On Thursday, September 18, 7-Eleven Canada is giving Canadians the ultimate power—the power to enjoy a large Slurpee for any price (minimum $0.50 spend), with all proceeds going to Food Banks Canada, in support of local food banks.

“Each year, we are astounded by the generosity of Canadians participating in Name Your Price Day,” said Marc Goodman, vice-president and general manager of 7-Eleven Canada. “On September 18, we give Canadians the choice to pay as much as they want for their large Slurpee; and more often than not, Canada’s kind-hearted nature shines through. This year, I challenge Canadians to channel their love for Slurpee into their communities by donating a few extra cents, because every nickel, dime and quarter goes a long way.”

Last year, over 43,637 Slurpee beverages were sold across Canada on Slurpee Name Your Price Day, resulting in $57,614 donations for Food Banks Canada. Many provinces hit important milestones, showcasing the power of community.

  • Alberta raised the most donations of any province, with its Name Your Price Day sales accounting for nearly one third of all national donations, largely in Calgary and Edmonton.
  • British Columbia residents took the crown for the highest average donation per Slurpee ($1.46) province wide. Additionally, B.C.’s 7-Eleven location at 2370 Burrard Avenue, Vanderhoof generated the highest average donation per Slurpee ($3.35) of any individual store in Canada.
  • Ontario’s 7-Eleven location at 278 Tecumseh Rd E, Windsor raised the most donations ($471.89), and sold the most Slurpee beverages (466), of any individual store in Canada.
  • Manitoba’s 7-Eleven location at 3380 Portage Ave, Winnipeg raised the second most donations of any individual store in Canada ($439.61).

Harvest Manitoba added that over 50,000 Manitobans visit a food bank every month. Food Banks of Saskatchewan said that since 2019, Saskatchewan Food Banks have seen a 42.1% increase in usage, putting a strain on the 26 food banks across the province. Food Banks Alberta said that a total of 118,640 people accessed food from a food bank in March 2024 and approximately 35% of Alberta food bank users are children

“It is an incredibly difficult time for so many across the country. With more than two million people in Canada turning to food banks every month, the need for support has never been more urgent,” shared Erin Filey-Wronecki, chief development and partnerships officer, Food Banks Canada. “We encourage everyone who can join us on Name Your Price Day by purchasing a Slurpee; your participation helps relieve those who need it most. A heartfelt thank you to 7-Eleven Canada for your longstanding partnership and unwavering commitment to helping us build a Canada where no one goes hungry.”
