According to president and chief executive officer Curtis Frank, 2025 was a "defining year" for Maple Leaf Foods. The company officially spun off its pork operations and wrapped up a massive, $2 billion company-wide upgrade. Frank notes that these moves give the company a much sharper focus and a stronger financial foundation as it steps into its next chapter.

"I am proud of the progress we are making toward our vision to be the most sustainable protein company on Earth," Frank said, emphasizing that business success and environmental care go hand-in-hand.

Here is a closer look at what Maple Leaf Foods accomplished over the past year across five key areas.

New options for diverse tastes and lifestyles

  • New Brands: The company launched Musafir, a South Asian-inspired protein brand, and Mighty Protein chicken sticks for clean, simple snacking.
  • Top-Selling Favourites: Schneiders and Maple Leaf held onto their spots as the number one and number two packaged meat brands in Canada. Maple Leaf Prime remained the top choice for fresh poultry.
  • Specialty Leaders: Mina stayed Canada's number one Halal fresh poultry brand, while Greenfield Natural Meat Co. held its crown as the top sustainable packaged meat brand in Canada (and number three in the U.S.).

Reducing its environmental footprint

Ten more facilities officially became "landfill-free," bringing the company's total to 13 green-certified sites. Maple leaf Foods continued to cut down greenhouse gas emissions, keeping on track with its long-term climate goals. It also expanded its partnerships with local farmers, supporting sustainable agriculture across "hundreds of thousands of acres" to improve soil health.

Environmental, social and governance

The Maple Leaf Centre for Food Security donated nearly $2 million worth of high-protein food to people in need across Canada and the United States: Salaried employees also stepped up to volunteer at 44 different community events across 26 Canadian cities.

Workplace safety and fair treatment of staff remained a top priority: The company saw even better safety scores in 2025, continuing a decade-long trend of making its workplaces safer.

They expanded their social compliance program, running deep-dive audits across key facilities to ensure fair working conditions.

Aside from working conditions, Maple Leaf Foods invested in new technology and housing to improve their stock.

They modernized their barns, and finished building state-of-the-art hatching egg barns for their birds. The team began testing remote video auditing and health tracking to ensure animals are well cared for around the clock.
