Montreal—Effective February 1, 2024, Distribution Régitan is now part of the growing family of Groupe Beaudry companies.
In a statement, Groupe Beaudry said the move was designed to benefit both groups with increased buying power and improved logistics, along with the sharing of services that “will directly benefit current and future customers and suppliers.”
Founded in 1920 as a wholesale candy company selling products to convenience stores, Distribution Régitan, a family business, flourished to become one of the largest independent full-service food distributors in Quebec, serving convenience stores, pharmacies and grocery stores. Today, it services more than 3,000 customers in the Greater Montreal Area.
In the wake of several recent acquisitions in the Quebec region—J. B Cadrin in Lévis, Roland & Frères in Saint-Pacôme, F. Charest in St-Georges de Beauce and Groupe Saga in Saguenay and Lac St-Jean—Groupe Beaudry has evolved into Eastern Canada's largest independent food wholesaler.
Operating two main warehouses in Montreal and Lévis, as well as nine satellite outlets in the province of Quebec, the company serve 5,000 customers, including convenience stores, grocery stores and restaurants, from Ottawa to Halifax.
Serge Nadeau, vice-president projets et développement, told CSNC in an email that pairing with Distribution Régitan will bring several benefits to Groupe Beaudry and its clients:
- Growth of the business (volume sales & number of customers)
- New products (Koshers)
- New majors accounts, like airports and drugstore chains
- Business synergy
- New experienced employees
Both groups will continue to operate on a day-to-day basis as two independent companies from their respective distribution centres.
Groupe Beaudry employees about 350 people and noted in the release: “The dedicated staff who has been proudly serving our customers and suppliers over the years will remain on duty to make this new adventure a great success.”
