Centrex welcomes its newest Gomarket and gas station at 1052 Clonsilla avenue, in Peterborough, Ont. 

The new location announced in LinkedIn that the latest Ontario franchise is operational: The convenience store and the forecourt are up and running and the staff look forward to meeting new neighbours. 

Centrex also celebrated the grand opening of Makwa with the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation in Loon Lake, Sask. Their grand opening day was marked with more than games and celebration: It was filled with meaningful moments and community spirit. In their LinkedIn post, Makwa stated that they are "grateful to welcome community members, leadership, vendors, and customers as we marked this important milestone together."

Centrex Petroleum's celebratory post also thanked the Elders for leading the opening prayer and ceremonial cake cutting, and to Chief Melvin and Council, and "our valued vendors for being part of the celebration."

The 7-Eleven store at 55 Main Street in Selkirk, Manitoba, closed in mid-August without any public notice or formal press release from Seven & i Holdings Co. Ltd., its parent company. 

Though there have not been any comments yet from 7-Eleven Canada, the locals of Selkirk do not feel that issues like crime were to cause the store's closure, according to a CTV report. 

The closure comes as a surprise, as Winnipeg is known as the Slurpee Capital of the World, and Manitoba boasts the most Slurpees sold in Canada. Winnipeg's love of Slurpees even inspired Winnipeg to name a street "Slurpee Way" in 2018.

Although 7-Eleven's first quarter earnings are promising, there have been closures of stores that were underperforming throughout the year. The convenience giant has reshaped its offerings and is strategizing to remodel stores with a fresh take on food-focused design using 7-Eleven’s “new standard” design, first unveiled in 2024.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced that the Creamy Milk Chocolate brand of Hershey's Kisses were recalled, due to undeclared almond. 

Retailers should check to see if they have recalled products, and not to serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products. 

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

Director of the Jones Soda Co., Mark Murray has resigned from the company’s board of directors as of July 13, 2026. The company officially confirmed his departure on July 15, marking the end of his time in this leadership role.

The company clarified that Murray did not leave because of any disagreements or arguments. He was on good terms with the team and fully supported the company’s daily operations, general policies, and business decisions.

In the press release, the company stated that his resignation is not related to how the company handles its money. There were no disputes or concerns regarding the company’s accounting practices, financial reports, or internal financial audits.

Mark has been an important part of the company's turnaround over the past several years, providing practical insight, sound judgment, and unwavering support during a transformational period. We are grateful for his many contributions, wish him continued success, and thank him for helping position Jones Soda for its next chapter of growth." said Paul Norman, chairman of the board.

Looking ahead, the remaining board members will continue their work as usual. The company will evaluate the timing and need for appointing an additional director as part of its ongoing corporate governance and succession-planning process.

The Quickie and MacEwen station located at 33406 Richmond Street, Lucan, Ontario was closed for roughly one year for a major raze-and-build renovation.

The new-and-improved location features eight pumps, renovated car wash and ready-to-go favourites like hot dogs, sausages, Tornados, and sandwiches. The beverage fountains stock Slushies, Icee, and F'real Shakes. 

The press release noted that the familiar location is celebrating its reopening with deals across the store, and they're only available for a limited time. Check out the new space while the deals are still on and say "hi" to Pardeep and the entire team at the store.

Centex Petroleum announced the opening of two new locations. 

The privately held, independent Canadian fuel supplier and convenience store operator headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, owns and operates over 150 locations across Canada.

The company was founded in 1986 from a single gas station in Inglewood, Calgary. Operating primarily as an independent chain, it offers services such as Retail Fuel, GO Markets, Centex Cashback, FuelPass and including numerous partnerships with First Nation communities. 

They announced their most recent opening of Centex Penbrook at 5320 8th street South East in Calgary Alberta, following another that opened last week, at 12281 ON-35 in Minden, Ontario.
