Marc Goodman joins 7-Eleven Canada

Former Suncor leader takes over as senior director of operations.

Marc Goodman is stepping into the role of senior director of operations for 7-Eleven Canada.

Goodman moves to the convenience store giant after more than two decades with Suncor. He joined the company in 1998 and held increasingly senior roles, including head of category management and, most recently, head of employee experience. He was based in Mississauga, Ont.

In a LinkedIn post this week, Goodman wrote: "As one chapter of my career closes with Suncor after 22 years, another one begins with 7-Eleven. I am so grateful, excited and energized by the opportunity to work for this tremendous forward thinking, entrepreneurial, customer centric organization. Looking forward to both learning the 7-Eleven way and driving their Canadian business forward."

Suncor, which merged with Petro-Canada in 2009, announced in October 2020 that it was moving its Petro-Canada head offices to Calgary from two locations in Ontario, affecting about 700 workers. Just weeks earlier, Suncor announced that in the next 18 months it would be eliminating 10% to 15% of its workforce (1,930 jobs) as a result of cost-cutting to deal with low oil prices and market volatility.

Goodman joins 7-Eleven at an exciting time for the retail leader, which continues to break ground and redefine the c-store experience with innovations, such as the recent launch of the 7-ElevenNow delivery app in Canada.
