National Retail Solutions Inc. (NRS) has launched a direct point-of-sale (POS) integration with Uber Eats, connecting independent retailers across Canada and the United States to the on-demand delivery platform.

The partnership allows small-format independent merchants using the NRS POS system—including convenience stores, bodegas, liquor stores and specialty grocers—to list inventory on the Uber Eats marketplace in real time.

Streamlined operations for independent merchants

Powered by data from the NRS inventory management system, local product stock updates automatically across channels. Incoming orders from Uber Eats flow directly into the NRS order management tool alongside regular in-store transactions.

This direct connection provides several key operational advantages. Merchants can manage, aggregate and fulfill delivery orders using their existing NRS equipment within a unified workflow. Store owners do not need secondary tablets or third-party middleware software to process incoming orders. Additionally, eliminating manual data entry reduces fulfillment errors and maintains overall inventory accuracy.

Unlike third-party aggregator services that rely on middleware between POS platforms and delivery apps, the direct NRS-Uber Eats connection reduces technical friction and operational disruption for store owners.

Leveling the digital playing field

The collaboration aims to give local, small-format merchants access to digital sales channels typically dominated by major national chains.

"Independent retailers have long been underserved by the digital commerce revolution," said Elie Y. Katz, president and chief executive officer of NRS. "Together, we are providing independent store owners with access to the same powerful digital tools used by large retail chains—without added complexity or cost."

For Uber Eats, the integration expands its retail and grocery fulfillment network by hooking into tens of thousands of local stores.

"Through our partnership with NRS, we're making it easier for tens of thousands of merchants to offer delivery and reach customers in new ways," said Hashim Amin, head of grocery and retail for Uber in North America.

The integration is available immediately to all eligible NRS merchants operating across Canada and the U.S. NRS operates as a subsidiary of IDT Corporation and serves approximately 35,000 independent retail locations.
