Rabba Fine Foods has partnered with Maple Leaf Foods to make a donation of more than 1,000 packages of bacon, valued at $10,000 to Food Banks Mississauga.
“The holidays prove to be a difficult time of year for many and we hope this donation can provide some relief,” says Rima Rabba, leader of the Rabba Roots Community Giving Program. “It is important for us to unite with like-minded companies such as Maple Leaf Foods to commit to making a positive impact in our communities.”
The need for support of local food banks appears to be increasing year over year. Food Banks Mississauga reports that 35,538 people visited them last year, and this represents 5% of Mississauga’s population. Of these users, half of them were first time users and 11,043 of them were children. The number of children visiting Food Banks Mississauga increased 10% over the previous year.
Over its 15 years of support for Food Banks Mississauga, Rabba Fine Foods has recognized the changing trends in usage and has remained resolute in its commitment to this critical community resource. This past year, Rabba Fine Foods made donations every single week in order to help local families and respond to the increased need.
