Subway Canada has brought back flatbreads by customer demand.

Michelle Dias, director of public relations, communications and sponsorships at Subway Canada says, "The return was driven by guest demand and love for Flatbread. We saw that Canadians were consistently asking for its return through social media, direct messages, and guest feedback. Bringing back a product that guests were so passionate about was a natural decision for Subway Canada to give the people what they wanted."

The returning flatbread is the original artisan flatbread, giving customers an extra choice for customizing their sandwiches. The chain states that there is no additional cost for selecting a flatbread.

CSNC asked if there would be any other interesting menu changes that QSR operators and customers could expect in the future. Dias replied, "innovation is a key part of our strategy...we encourage Canadians to stay tuned to Subway Canada's channels for future announcements."

Most recently, Subway Canada released its limited-time SubDog, a foot-long hot dog in a subway bun.

The SubDog was initially a social media post that was launched as an April Fool's joke in 2022. The joke was on Subway: Public interest in the post prompted the sandwich chain to make the prank reality.

"Whether it's social media conversations, direct guest feedback, or restaurant insights, we pay close attention to what Canadians are asking for. The return of Flatbread is a great example of how guest enthusiasm can help shape menu decisions," added Dias.
