    The federal government is giving a funding boost for a network of electric vehicle charging stations across Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Quebec has become the first Canadian province to make mask-wearing mandatory in all indoor public places for people aged 12 years and older.Premier Francois Legault said the new directive enters into effect Saturday - just in time for the province's annual construction holiday.Businesses will be expected to enforce the new rules and are subject to fines of between $400 and $6,000 if their customers are caught violating the health directive, Legault told reporters Monday in Montreal.He said the government is considering imposing fines on individuals beginning in August.

  • 7-Eleven Day cancelled in favour of distanced celebrations

    Given physical distancing measures put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, 7-Eleven Canada is taking a different approach to 7-Eleven Day this year.The company traditionally celebrates by offering free Slurpees to customers on July 11 - the event is hugely popular, prompting long line-ups and even special visits from camps and day cares. This year, in order to prioritize the safety of staff, customers, and the neighbourhoods in which the stores operate, the celebrations will happen at a distance.
  • Ontario joins B.C., N.B. and N.S. with temporary eviction ban

    The Ontario government is putting a temporary ban on commercial evictions to help small business owners who are struggling to pay their rent amid the COVID-19 fallout.Premier Doug Ford announced the moratorium on Monday which applies to small businesses who qualify for the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance program (CECRA), where their revenues have dropped at least 70% due to the pandemic.Ford outlined the details at a news conference, saying the ban will take effect for evictions as of June 3 and last until Aug.
