Two heritage Canadian brands are entering the ready-to-drink (RTD) alcohol category with a familiar pairing designed for grab-and-go occasions.

J.P. Wiser’s and Canada Dry have launched J.P. Wiser’s & Canada Dry Whisky & Ginger Ale, a premixed cocktail rolling out nationwide beginning in February.

The RTD offering taps into continued growth in single-serve alcohol and consumer demand for recognizable, trusted brands. The product features a classic whisky-and-ginger profile at 7% ABV and requires no mixing or preparation.

“Whisky and ginger ale have long been a go-to combination for Canadians,” said Maura Cowan, vice-president of marketing at Corby Spirit and Wine, parent company of J.P. Wiser’s whisky, in a release. “This launch reflects a deliberate approach to evolving the J.P. Wiser’s brand while staying rooted in quality and tradition.”

The collaboration brings together more than a century of Canadian heritage, noted the release, with a focus on consistency and balance. Canada Dry Ginger Ale delivers its signature  taste alongside J.P. Wiser’s whisky, creating a familiar flavour profile in RTD format.

RTD entry

“If there’s one ginger ale Canadians trust with their whisky, it’s Canada Dry,” said Chris McMahon, vice-president of away-from-home sales and ready-to-drink at Keurig Dr Pepper Canada, which owns Canada Dry. “This is our first entry into the RTD category, and J.P. Wiser’s was a natural partner.”

The product will be available in a 473-mL single-serve can, with four-packs offered in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.

For convenience retailers, the launch offers a low-complexity RTD from two established Canadian brands, positioned for cold-vault placement and immediate consumption.

Supporting the launch is a national activation plan that includes in-store tastings and sampling, on-premise features, sports and cultural sponsorships, and digital campaigns tied to game-day and social occasions.
