Lactalis Canada, a subsidiary of France-based Lactalis Group, has released its 2022 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report.
The dairy company behind brands like Cracker Barrel, Black Diamond, Balderson, Astro and Lactantia is focused on three key pillars of impact: people and communities; authentic products and heritage; and land and resources.
Highlights of the 2022 report include: creating an employee-led and leadership championed DE&I Council and launching a DE&I focused training initiative; investing over $2.6 million to more than 50 charitable organizations across Canada; supporting the launch of Lactalis Group’s Act for Quality worldwide initiative; advanced implementation of ambitious animal welfare practices and programs; reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 10% over three years; and achieving a 75% reduction in carbon emissions in transport activities across the east to west corridor.
“Lactalis Canada’s 2022 ESG Report is a roadmap to transform our business even as we grow, innovate and adapt to evolving global circumstances and is designed to enable responsible and profitable growth and deliver value for all Lactalis Canada stakeholders – our people, consumers, customers, suppliers, dairy farmers, governments, industry and community partners,” said Mark Taylor, president and CEO of Lactalis Canada, in a statement. “Our report also outlines our efforts to advance three priorities to meet the evolving expectations of our customers and Canadian consumers – circular economy and packaging, climate action, and animal welfare.”
