Mediacorp Canada Inc. has released its annual Canada's Top 100 Employers list for this year, of which several of Canada’s major foodservice, beverage and c-store partners made it onto this year’s list.

"The individuals working at this year's winners mirror the diversity of the population in the region," says Richard Yerema, executive editor of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project. "To retain employees over the long term, employers need to offer benefits and programs that encourage their people to grow with the organization. The best employers constantly raise the bar by making these benefits flexible, so employees can really customize them to suit their needs."

Strong organizational cultures are integral in a region as multicultural as the GTA, with this year's winners prioritizing initiatives that promote teamwork and cohesion, such as regularly scheduled social events and company-sponsored volunteer work in the community.

"This year's winners recognize that strong cultures are built on genuine connections and shared experiences," says Kristina Leung, managing editor at Mediacorp. "Social events, for example, create the circumstances for individuals to connect on a personal level, beyond their daily roles and with people they don't always see. These engagements improve morale and engagement, fostering a sense of belonging that helps individuals feel included and valued for their contribution."

Included in the list were such companies as Danone Canada, Keurig Dr Pepper Canada, Labatt Breweries of Canada, Loblaw Companies Ltd., Mars Canada, Mondelez Canada Inc., Nestlé Canada Inc., Saputo Inc., and Sobeys Inc.

To make the list, each of these Canadian firms here evaluated across eight criteria: Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.

Each of these companies were cited for their commitment to their employees and creating supporting working environments.

For example, Mars Canada was noted for how it “helps employees take more time for themselves with a generous starting vacation allowance of four weeks”, and Mondelez Canada for its work in encouraging “employees to support their local community with paid volunteer time, [and] offering additional time as needed”, to Nestlé Canada Inc. being a workplace where “employees enjoy discounts on a wide array of products at the company store, from chocolate and coffee to pet food and health products.”
