Coors Light creates limited edition "Tall Girl" beer can
Coors Light Canada is expanding its support of basketball with the launch of a limited-edition Toronto Tempo-themed can following its recent announcement as the first official beer of the Toronto Tempo, Canada's inaugural WNBA team.
The new Coors Light "Tall Girl" can celebrates the partnership and women's professional basketball in Canada. The can is a play on the 473 mL "Tall Boy" format commonly sold at basketball games.
"From our celebratory Tall Girl can to fan activations across the country, Coors Light is proud to be the beer that fans reach for as they celebrate women's basketball and our new home team, the Toronto Tempo," said Michelle Ramos, senior marketing director for global brands, Molson Coors Beverage Company.
Coors Light said the partnership builds on its long-standing connection to basketball. The brand has been a partner of the Toronto Raptors for 31 years and says it has supported the sport, its fans and its cultural impact in Toronto throughout that time.
According to Ramos, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting women's sports and enhancing the fan experience during the team's inaugural season.
For the Toronto Tempo, the agreement represents another milestone for the franchise and women's professional basketball in Canada.
"Bringing Coors Light on as the official beer of the Toronto Tempo is a testament to the growth and potential of the team and women's professional basketball in Canada," said Teresa Resch, president of Toronto Tempo.
The limited-edition Coors Light Tall Girl can will be available for a limited time on July 5 and July 8 at Toronto Tempo home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Throughout the remainder of the season, fans attending games will be able to purchase domestic draught and canned Coors Light products at the arena. The brand also plans to offer ticket giveaways through its social media channels.
As part of the partnership, Molson Coors is donating $10,000 to the Tempo Basketball Foundation. The company said the contribution will support programs for women across Canada through sport and help create more equitable opportunities for participation, connection and leadership.
