Rabba Fine Foods shares the spirit of Easter with donation to Food Banks Mississauga
Rabba Fine Foods has made its largest Easter season donation to Food Banks Mississauga through its Rabba Roots Community Giving Program.
The donation included 320 Carver’s hams, 5,400 eggs, two full pallets of fresh and shelf-stable almond and cashew milk, and nearly 200 pounds of fresh fruit—an effort aimed at providing nutritious support to individuals and families during the holiday season.
“It’s an absolute honour to be able to work with our partners to support the work of Food Banks Mississauga in alleviating some of the pressures faced by families in our community," says Rima Rabba, who heads Rabba Roots.
In response to the escalating food insecurity crisis in Mississauga, Rabba has increased its efforts to mobilize resources to help deliver food items to those in need. This initiative aligns with the alarming statistics reported by Food Banks Mississauga, which indicate that 1 in 13 residents—approximately 56,267 individuals—have relied on food bank services in the past year. Notably, 28% of these individuals are children, highlighting the critical nature of the situation.
"After Mississauga saw the fastest growing rate of food bank use in the province in 2024, we need the support of our community more than ever as Food Banks Mississauga is facing uncertainty with how potential economic pressures will impact food bank use," says Daisy Yiu, director of marketing & communications at Food Banks Mississauga. "The cost of living continues to soar, and we're grateful to Rabba for its donation to support neighbours living with food insecurity during our Spring Drive."
