Celsius Holdings, Inc. is tapping a seasoned veteran of the Canadian energy drink market to spearhead its operations in Canada.

Sean Archbell is now general manager, overseeing a commercial portfolio that includes the Celsius, Alani and Rockstar brands. Based in Toronto, he arrives at a pivotal moment for the functional beverage category.

The appointment comes after a nine-year tenure at Red Bull Canada, where Archbell most recently served as senior vice-president of sales.

During nearly a decade at Red Bull, he was a key player of the brand's Canadian footprint, moving through high-level roles including VP of sales and distribution, as well as director of national distribution.

Before joining the beverage industry’s top ranks, Archbell built a robust foundation in the broader consumer packaged goods (CPG) and retail sectors.

His resume includes a stint as director of national sales at InComm, several years at RB (Reckitt Benckiser) and more than five years at Imperial Tobacco Canada in various leadership roles spanning from Montreal to Calgary.

The transition to Celsius marks a strategic move for the brand as it looks to consolidate its market share in Canada. Celsius has increasingly focused on the "functional" segment of the market, appealing to fitness-conscious consumers with its calorie-burning claims and vitamin-infused formulas.

In January 2024, Celsius Holdings announced its expansion into new international markets, with PepsiCo serving as the exclusive distributor for Celsius in Canada.
