Mondelez Canada and The Salvation Army Team Up for Holiday Toy Drive
Canadian convenience store operators heading into the busy holiday retail stretch have a major new reason to merchandise their front-of-store snack aisles. Mondelez Canada and The Salvation Army have launched a nationwide holiday campaign called "Share the Joy, Donate a Toy" that connects impulse snack purchases directly to community giving.
Running from November 2 until Dec. 20, 2026, the charitable initiative turns regular counter purchases into support for families across Canada. For convenience store retailers whose foot traffic spikes with grab-and-go shoppers during the winter weeks, this campaign offers a compelling hook to drive packaged-snack basket sizes while supporting local communities.
Mondelez products support holiday toy drive
The promotion pledges that a portion of proceeds from every participating Mondelez product purchased at retail will help The Salvation Army acquire up to $150,000 in toys for children in need.
The campaign features iconic snack mainstays that already dominate convenience channel shelves, including Oreo, Ritz, Cadbury, Toblerone and more. Because the promotion relies on everyday items that c-store patrons reach for on a daily basis, convenience operators are well positioned to see shoppers actively participate right at the checkout counter.
The toys purchased through the campaign will be distributed to families in more than 400 communities across Canada, ensuring the charitable impact reaches coast to coast.

Purpose-driven snack sales
Community impact and corporate citizenship are taking centre stage for holiday shoppers this year. Brand leadership emphasizes that small routine transactions can aggregate into substantial relief for Canadian neighbourhoods.
"At Mondelez Canada, we believe everyone deserves moments of joy, especially during the holiday season," said Pierina De Carolis, head of communications and community impact at Mondelez Canada Inc. "Through our Share the Joy, Donate a Toy partnership with The Salvation Army, we’re bringing this belief to life by making it easy for Canadians to help make a difference in the lives of children in need by enjoying their favourite snacks. Together, we’re demonstrating how small, everyday actions can have a meaningful impact on children and families across Canada."
For independent operators and major banner retailers alike, stocking and highlighting recognizable participating stock-keeping units gives shoppers a simple way to participate during quick neighbourhood visits.
Easing holiday pressure for local families
The initiative comes at a critical time when household budgets face steep winter pressures, making local retail support especially meaningful.
"For families already struggling to make ends meet, Christmas can bring another set of impossible choices," said Glenn van Gulik, national spokesperson for The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda. "No parent should have to choose between putting food on the table, paying the rent and placing a gift under the tree for their child. Through this partnership with Mondelez Canada, The Salvation Army is helping Canadians turn everyday purchases into meaningful acts of generosity, bringing joy to children and easing the pressure on families across the country. We’re grateful to Mondelez Canada for helping us share the joy of Christmas, and the hope that comes from knowing someone cares."
Canadian consumers can participate simply by picking up eligible Mondelez snack items at their local retail stores throughout the campaign window ending Dec. 20.
