As the late-summer and back-to-school shopping window approaches, Tim Hortons is positioning itself to capture consumer traffic through a major media partnership.

Tim Hortons has announced an exclusive Canadian QSR collaboration featuring a Harry Potter-themed menu, merchandise, limited-edition packaging and interactive guest experiences launching August 12.

The campaign capitalizes on the annual "Back to Hogwarts" celebration—a key calendar moment that coincides with the late-summer back-to-school season.

Custom menu strategy and limited-edition merchandise

The chain is introducing targeted food and beverage items tied directly to the franchise, including:

Four distinct flavour profiles representing the Hogwarts houses—Gryffindor Strawberry Cheesecake, Slytherin Chocolate Pistachio, Ravenclaw Blueberry and Hufflepuff Lemon Meringue, offered alongside a limited-edition Golden Snitch Timbits Holder.

The chain also capitalizes on the cold beverage trend with Patronus Sparkling Quenchers (customizable with lemonade, a protein dairy beverage, or frozen) and Forbidden Forest Iced Tea Quenchers (available at participating locations serving fountain beverages).

In addition to food offerings, Tim Hortons is tapping into retail and merchandise revenue streams. Locations will offer a cold beverage-activated, colour-changing "Stir Wand" that turns blue to resemble the Patronus Charm, along with limited-edition "25 Years of Magic" gift cards.

Temperature-activated and Easter egg packaging

Visual appeal and shareability play a key role in the promotional strategy. Cold beverages will be served in limited-edition, temperature-activated cups that reveal a trail of Patronuses when filled.

While supplies last, select menu items will be served in custom Harry Potter x Tim Hortons packaging—including single-item doughnut boxes, multi-pack doughnut boxes, 10-pack and 20-pack Timbits boxes and cold beverage cups—designed with easter eggs specifically for fans to discover and share.

Community activation and loyalty program integration

The rollout incorporates both in-restaurant events and digital loyalty integration to extend customer engagement:

On August 28, participating locations will host a Harry Potter Trivia Night to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film and kick off the annual Back to Hogwarts celebration.

From August 17 to September 6, Tims Rewards members who scan their app, card, or shop at TimShop.ca during an order will be entered into a contest to win one of two grand prize VIP experiences for two in London, England.

"Harry Potter has been a beloved part of so many of our guests' lives for decades and we couldn't be more excited for Canadians to discover the wizarding world at Tims restaurants," said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer for Tim Hortons. "We're exclusively bringing the magic of Harry Potter to QSR in Canada in true Tims fashion."
