As peak summer heat sets in, Canadians are looking for fun, budget-friendly ways to cool down.

Circle K Canada has launched "What's Your Swirl Personality?" to meet this seasonal demand. The nationwide campaign maps six vibrant Froster Swirl flavours to six distinct personality archetypes. By combining classic Froster flavours with soft-serve ice cream for an extra dollar, the retailer aims to appeal to a broad range of consumers, from trendsetters to classic crowd-pleasers. Cold beverages are big sales drivers for both small and large convenience stores, and the demand for customizable drinks has also been a growing trend.

Using social media to attract and retain customers

The promotional initiative relies heavily on interactive and shareable elements that tap into personality quizzes. Customers can discover their individual swirl persona, tag friends and share their matches across social media platforms. By positioning personality alongside daily refreshment, Circle K Canada provides an affordable summer treat tailored to different taste preferences. Digital interaction boosts store visits, and can generate return visitors through gamified promotions in retail environments.

Leveraging cold, customizable beverages

In tandem with the product launch, Circle K Canada is driving repeat purchases through its integrated Beverage Club. Under this digital rewards program, shoppers can buy any five Froster, Polar Pop, Froster Swirl or hot beverage items at participating Circle K stores in Canada to receive their sixth drink for free. Shoppers participate by entering their phone number at checkout to earn digital stamps.

Convenience store operators looking to enhance customer retention can learn from this initiative and apply similar tactics when building effective c-store digital loyalty programs.

Consumers can track their accumulated rewards and access the Beverage Club by downloading the Circle K Canada app. The program applies across multiple drink categories, encouraging frequent visits during the peak summer selling season.
